To coincide with the opening of Hogarth: London Voices, London Lives, John Riddy has donated a new limited-edition photograph London (Alaska Street), 2006. London (Alaska Street), 2006 shows a 'coffeehouse' underneath a railway track in London's Waterloo. The sign 'Igloo' above the illuminated serving hatch a witty reference to the street name. The cafe which is no longer there, appears to belong more to Hogarth's eighteen-century London. The brick wall a witness to time and the framed landscape print and hanging basket an attempt to create a homely environment in a bleak urban landscape.
